Position Overview:

  • Comply with environmental health / safety policies / procedures, participate in 5-S activities and perform work in a safe and timely manner.
  • Remove / install aircraft components as required
  • Fabricate and or modify structural modifications on aircraft parts
  • Perform minor structural repairs on composite components either attached or detached
  • Assist in conducting hidden damage inspection of aircraft structures

Basic Qualifications:

STS Technical Services is seeking a highly skilled Avionics Technician to join our team in Bridgeport, West Virginia. As an Avionics Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of aircraft by troubleshooting, repairing, inspecting, and performing maintenance on various aircraft systems. The ideal candidate will have prior experience with corporate jet aircraft, commercial aircraft, or military aircraft maintenance, including Depot/Isochronal/Phase inspections.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot & Repair: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair avionics systems, ensuring all aircraft maintenance actions are completed to industry standards.
  • Maintenance & Inspections: Perform regular maintenance and inspections on aircraft systems as required by regulations.
  • Documentation: Accurately document all work performed in compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.

Job Requirements:

Experience:

Certifications & Licenses:

  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) or Airframe (A) License preferred.

Communication Skills:

  • Performs a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations on interior assemblies and subassemblies such as seats, cabinets, panels, partitions, divan, and In-flight entertainment equipment.
  • Works from diagrams and drawings, makes initial layouts, and uses hand and/or power tools, jigs, and saws.
  • Makes continuity checks on work in process and completed while following appropriate clean-as-you go shop practices.
  • May conduct quality inspections on processing line in accordance with quality specifications.
  • May disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble, and test experimental or prototype assemblies and subassemblies according to specifications and under simulated conditions
  • Follows approved assembly procedures for component or aircraft structures, consulting internal procedures that have been FAA approved, original equipment manufacturers (OEM’s) technical data, and work package instructions.
  • Positions and aligns subassemblies in jigs or fixtures, using measuring instruments, following blueprint lines and index points.

  • Completes work package documentation per FAA and/or repair station manual.

Qualifications:

Education:

Experience:

  • Generally 1-2 years of experience in area of responsibility.
  • Requiring Basic Skills to perform basic tasks within the Technical Area assigned to in area of responsibility with assembly, mechanical, electrical or aircraft structures as well as able to use all tech data and aircraft drawings to locate part numbers and accomplish repairs.

  • Interprets flight test data to diagnose malfunctions and systemic performance problems.
  • Sets up and operates ground support and test equipment to perform functional flight test of electrical and electronic systems.
  • Tests components or assemblies, using circuit tester, oscilloscope, and voltmeter.
  • Trouble shoots, repairs, reworks, and modifies worn or defective assemblies, components or systems.

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • High School/ GED
  • Current A&P -preferred but not required
  • Desired: FCC License
  • 1 year actual and recent depot level aircraft avionics experience is required, (repair of electrical systems, flight control systems, instrumentation and wiring); proficiency with: interpretation of avionic/electrical wiring diagrams, wire identification, harness fabrication, cables, fittings, circuits and connectors.
  • Desired: Prior experience in executive jet repair facility.

  • Installation — Installing equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.
  • Repairing — Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools.

  • Equipment Maintenance — performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their uses, repairs and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of FAA requirements for aircraft maintenance procedures
  • Ability to interpret and comprehend manufacturer and FAA approved work package instructions; ability to inspect and install parts/components.

Lead A&P Technician

STS Technical Services is hiring a full-time Lead A&P Technician in Fort Lauderdale, Florida to support our growing team. If you’re an experienced technician with strong leadership skills and a passion for precision, this is your chance to make a real impact in a fast-paced MRO environment.

Position Summary

The Lead A&P Technician reports directly to the Manager of Maintenance Operations and is responsible for supervising production personnel, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations, and driving efficient, high-quality aircraft maintenance operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enforce safe work practices across all maintenance activities
  • Supervise daily operations to reduce delays and optimize productivity
  • Provide hands-on training and support to technicians
  • Ensure access to proper manuals, service bulletins, and technical data
  • Maintain all tools and equipment in working condition
  • Oversee the handling, preservation, and documentation of all parts and components
  • Initiate requisitions for parts and materials as needed
  • Certify that completed work meets all regulatory standards and documentation requirements
  • Perform operational checks and detailed inspections on various aircraft systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, plumbing, and rigging
  • Support Quality Assurance with in-progress and final inspections

Required Education & Certifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate Degree or Technical Certification preferred
  • Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License required
  • FCC General Operator’s License preferred

Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of aircraft maintenance experience or equivalent
  • 5–7 years in a supervisory or management role in heavy maintenance or MRO operations
  • Recent depot-level repair experience, especially in mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics
  • Proficiency interpreting OEM technical data and FAA-approved work packages
  • Prior experience with executive jets, specifically Embraer 145 or Legacy, highly preferred
  • Advanced understanding of FAA maintenance regulations and quality standards

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Expertise in troubleshooting, repair, and installation procedures
  • Deep knowledge of tools, machines, and systems maintenance
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, regulated environments
  • Ability to implement continuous improvement processes and lead by example

Working Conditions

  • Must adhere to all OSHA, EPA, FAA, and company safety standards
  • Ability to work flexible hours and shifts as needed
  • Must be eligible for FAA-required drug and alcohol testing
  • May be required to wear a respirator in compliance with OSHA regulations
