Material / Process Engineer

STS Technical Services is seeking an experienced Senior Materials and Processes (M&P) Engineer with a focus on composite and bonded airframes. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in material qualification, repair techniques, non-destructive testing (NDT), project management, and Material Review Board (MRB) actions, contributing to the design and support of advanced aircraft structures.

Key Responsibilities

• Create, maintain, and apply M&P specifications.
• Review and approve engineering drawings for material and process requirements.
• Develop processes and quality controls for composite fabrication and bonding.
• Direct material qualification/equivalency test programs and analyze data.
• Support MRB actions for M&P discrepancies and assist in production.
• Work with suppliers, Procurement, and Service Centers.
• Travel as necessary for M&P issues.

Education, Experience, Certifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical, Chemical, or Materials Engineering.
• 8+ years of relevant experience, with at least 5+ years in M&P Engineering.
• Experience with FAA Certification and MRB authority is a strong advantage.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Strong technical writing skills for test plans and reports.
• Proficient in MS Office, CMH-STATS, CATIA V5, TeamCenter, and SAP.
• Understanding of FAA regulations for composites during type certification.
• Ability to mentor and lead less experienced engineers and technicians.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in environments with exposure to equipment noise, dust, or odors.
• Perform duties such as standing, sitting, squatting, climbing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Follow FAA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, and safety regulations while maintaining a professional working environment.
