Job Summary
STS Technical Services is hiring a Receiving Supervisor in Ridgeland, South Carolina to lead the receiving team in managing the accurate inspection, documentation, and handling of materials essential to the manufacturing process. This role ensures all incoming goods meet quality, quantity, and specification standards while maintaining precise inventory records. The Receiving Supervisor plays a key role in supporting production schedules, overseeing material flow, and ensuring an organized, efficient, and safe receiving area.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead the receiving team, ensuring the timely and accurate receipt of raw materials, components, and supplies.
- Inspect incoming shipments for quality, quantity, and compliance with specifications.
- Cross-check shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and related documentation.
- Maintain accurate inventory records by documenting and updating inventory management systems.
- Oversee the proper labeling, tagging, and storage of received materials in warehouse or production areas.
- Communicate with suppliers to resolve shipment discrepancies and quality issues.
- Work with production scheduling to ensure materials are available when needed.
- Maintain the organization, cleanliness, and safety of receiving and storage areas.
- Assist in inventory audits and physical inventory counts to ensure accuracy.
- Ensure the receiving team follows all safety and quality standards in material handling.
- Provide training and mentorship to team members while evaluating performance.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and inventory control procedures.
- Supervisory experience in a receiving, warehouse, or logistics environment preferred.
- Ability to operate forklifts and material handling equipment safely (certification preferred).
- Proficient in inventory management software or ERP systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
- Effective organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with suppliers, carriers, and internal teams.
- Physical ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed to support production demands.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in logistics or supply chain management is a plus.
- Prior experience in a receiving clerk or supervisor role within a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
Working Conditions
- Work may require long periods outside of a climate-controlled environment.
- PPE is required, including safety shoes, glasses, and a safety vest.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk, sit, stand, crouch, and lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
