Location: York, Pennsylvania
Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM (plus a mandatory Tuesday cross-shift meeting at 5:40 AM)
Flexibility Required: Must be willing to work night shifts (Monday – Thursday, 6:45 PM – 5:15 AM) as needed with prior notice.

Position Overview

STS Technical Services is hiring a Non-Conforming Material Specialist to join our team in York, Pennsylvania. In this role, you will play a key part in identifying and processing non-conforming materials, ensuring quality standards are met, and maintaining inventory accuracy. This position requires strong communication skills, both in person and via email, as well as the ability to analyze defects, perform system transactions, and collaborate with suppliers.

If you have experience in inventory control, logistics, or quality assurance, and are proficient with Microsoft Excel and Outlook, we encourage you to apply. SAP experience is preferred but not required—training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze non-conforming materials against engineering drawings and quality standards.
  • Communicate defects and material issues effectively via email and in-person discussions.
  • Conduct hands-on inspections and process non-conformance records systematically.
  • Utilize SAP (or similar ERP systems) to track materials, close records, and manage inventory levels.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to resolve non-conformance issues and coordinate returns.
  • Create purchase orders as needed to address defective materials.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and support logistics operations.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, including the use of required PPE (safety toe shoes, safety vest, and safety glasses).

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience:
  • 3-6 months of experience with SAP or other ERP systems (preferred).
  • Previous experience in quality control, logistics, or inventory management is a plus.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings is an advantage.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel (required).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess material defects.
  • Work Environment & Expectations:
  • Must be flexible and willing to switch between day and night shifts as required.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with hands-on and computer-based tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured procedures.
