STS Aviation Services is hiring a Logistics Manager for its aircraft base maintenance facility in Birmingham, United Kingdom. Reporting directly to the Head of Logistics, the Logistics Manager will oversee all aspects of logistics support for civil aviation, including base and line maintenance. This senior role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of STS’s logistics services and will play a key role in staffing, infrastructure, process improvements, and quality assurance. Key Responsibilities
- Staffing & Recruitment: Ensure logistics teams are staffed with appropriately trained personnel, conducting recruitment activities as needed to support civil aviation operations.
- Infrastructure & Process Improvement: Review and manage infrastructure requirements for civil activities; conduct regular process improvement reviews to enhance operational efficiency.
- Planning & Coordination: Attend planning and review meetings; lead daily work allocation briefs with logistic shift leads.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance: Conduct internal logistics assurance checks, manage quarantine procedures, and ensure proper waste management practices.
- Inventory Management: Oversee stock management to minimize write-offs and ensure levels are maintained within agreed limits.
- KPI Reporting: Provide KPI reporting and analysis as required, ensuring key metrics are tracked and reported accurately.
- Investigation & Assurance: Lead logistic investigations when necessary and manage logistic PROMRO activities, ensuring adherence to assurance standards.
Additional Responsibilities
- Deputise for Head of Logistics: Act as the Head of Logistics during periods of absence, managing reporting, KPI tracking, and the logistics assurance program.
- Staff Training & Competency: Manage staff training requirements and conduct regular competency checks to ensure team members are well-prepared for their roles.
Qualifications
- Experience: Prior experience in logistics management, preferably within the aviation or MRO industry.
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership abilities with experience in team management, recruitment, and training.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of working collaboratively with various teams.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to provide accurate KPI reporting, analyze data, and conduct investigations as required.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with a focus on improving processes, managing stock, and adhering to quality assurance standards.
