STS Technical Services is hiring a Field Service Technician to support Cold Weather All-Terrain Vehicle (CATV) operations for the U.S. Army, Army National Guard, and Army Reserves at Fort Wainwright, Alaska. This is a mission-critical role providing expert-level maintenance and system support in one of the most demanding environments in the country.

Position Summary:

Based at Fort Wainwright, this role is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and upgrading CATV platforms—the modern replacement for the Small Unit Support Vehicle (SUSV). You’ll work closely with military personnel and technical teams to deliver operational readiness in extreme cold-weather conditions.

This is a boots-on-the-ground opportunity with minimal travel and long-term program potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide both in-garrison and field maintenance support for CATV systems
  • Diagnose and repair drivetrain, suspension, hydraulic, HVAC, and electrical systems
  • Execute warranty work, retrofits, and performance upgrades
  • Maintain detailed service records and technical documentation
  • Communicate clearly with internal teams and military personnel
  • Work independently or collaboratively in high-tempo environments
  • Perform hands-on tasks in extreme weather for extended periods
  • Follow all safety regulations, program policies, and federal guidelines

Required Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship with valid state-issued driver’s license
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport and Common Access Card (CAC)
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Completion of a Military Maintenance MOS program or relevant civilian automotive/heavy truck training
  • Minimum of 4 years hands-on maintenance experience in heavy equipment or vehicle roles
  • Skilled in troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, HVAC, and electrical systems
  • Basic computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Former U.S. military technician with E-5 or above in a maintenance MOS
  • 6+ years experience working on tracked or heavy wheeled vehicles
  • Prior experience in arctic or cold-weather operations
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to adapt and learn continuously

Work Locations:

  • Fort Wainwright, Alaska (primary)
  • JBER – Richardson, Alaska (as needed)
