STS Aviation Group is looking for an experienced Aircraft Production Supervisor to oversee maintenance operations and ensure compliance with FAA regulations, customer maintenance programs, and internal quality standards. Reporting to the Director of Operations and Maintenance, this role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a deep understanding of commercial and large regional aircraft maintenance.
This is a high-impact leadership role where you will drive operational efficiency, manage resources, and maintain accountability for all assigned crew activities.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Oversight & Compliance
- Maintain direct authority over the activities of the assigned work crew.
- Ensure all maintenance and documentation align with FAA regulations, customer programs, and internal quality requirements.
- Monitor and manage tool issuance and return, ensuring compliance with task card requirements.
- Maintain clean and organized hangar, aircraft, and shop environments.
Employee Supervision & Workforce Management
- Lead and oversee a team of maintenance technicians, ensuring operational efficiency.
- Approve employee timecards, PTO requests, and shift schedules.
- Ensure proper break and lunch scheduling to support operational needs.
- Supervise and train uncertified mechanics as per program guidelines.
Production & Workflow Management
- Daily workflow oversight: Maintain turnover reports, manage work-in-progress (WIP), and ensure proper task card staging.
- Labor & Cost Oversight: Evaluate non-routines and provide labor estimates to customers before task issuance.
- Ensure tooling and material availability 48 hours in advance to minimize production delays.
- Review completed task cards for accuracy, compliance, and proper documentation before final approval.
Cross-Team Coordination & Communication
- Attend daily aircraft status meetings and coordinate with Production Control on workflow updates.
- Collaborate with Backshops for aircraft machining, welding, composites, and painting.
- Provide daily feedback on material status reports and address discrepancies.
- Work closely with Program Managers to ensure operational goals are met.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in aircraft maintenance, including overhauls, repairs, and modifications on commercial and regional aircraft.
- Strong understanding of FAA regulations, MRO best practices, and technical documentation.
- Experience with task card staging, material planning, and quality control audits.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage workforce allocation effectively.
- Experience with tool and material management, workflow optimization, and cost tracking.
- Proficiency in labor budgeting, estimating, and customer approvals for non-routine work.
